The lifestory of Anju Gurung
My name is Anju. My father ran away when I was just a baby, so it was only me and my mother, we used to sleep in the street. My mother never went to school so she never could get a job.
From the beginning we were beggars and we lived in really poor conditions. Life in the street was difficult for us, trying to get food or money every day and also during the nights drunken men used to disturbed my mother.
We could never feel safe. I also have a big sister but she lives far away and she can’t take care of us.
[The caretakers thinks she is only 3,5 years old, but her mother says she is 6 years.]
Her mother now is a mental patient of a hospital and usually forgets that she has a daughter. Whenever she remembers about her, she visit Anju in the children's home, but that's only once a year maybe. Now Anju says that she happy in Sundarijal, where she can play with other kids and being under good care, with education, food and clothes.

With 9 years old she is the smallest girl of the house and has been here for five years. Now she's studying in class 3 and she is one of the best students of the class, is that kind of students that loves every subject, but her personal favorites are English, grammar and science
This little girl is very funny, whenever she get the chance of talking with older people she will go and seat with them. Her English is really good so have no problems talking with tourist and volunteers that that visit the house.
Like many other children she loves painting and drawing, and reading kids books. She also enjoys music, so whenever she listen a song she likes she will start dancing with the other children. Is a really funny kid, easy going but with her own character.
